Recently I had the pleasure of going to M.U.S.H.E.R.S not knowing what to expect; well all my expectations were blown away. I am a person who does not enjoy many winter sports but this is an experience I would do o...

  Lead Dogs!
Image

Apache was born in 2008 in Quebec in the same kennel where Kodiak, Nuko, Kika, Snif and Braska grew up.  He is pure bred Siberian Husky, and is 70 lbs of solid muscle!  He is one of the tallest dogs in our yard and has dedication, strength, and determination.  He is smart and playful.  He runs Gee-Haw with Snif!

Image

Athena is also a puppy from Braska born in early 2010.  She is one of those 'crazy' puppies.  It takes a while for her to settle down, and even then she doesn't sit still for long.  She is long-bodied and narrow, making her an excellent choice for lead as she will likely show signs of great speed and stubborn will power.  Greenie, Saphira, and Snif will be helping her along in her journey to become a dependable lead dog.

Demon, born on October 6th, 2010, came to us in February 2012 from a local pet home.  His name says it all!  He gets into all sorts of trouble, mostly due to his exuberant personality.  He's super friendly though, and great to have around.  After chewing apart some of our dog houses, I had to put his energy to use.  He picked up on lead right away, and even runs lead on our main team!

Image

Greenie has been with us since 2008, was born on June 19th, 2002 and has lineage dating back to the origins of the Siberian Husky.  Originally from Minnesota, Greenie has raced teams of Siberians over challenging courses.  Now, she leisures teams to the depths of nature's finest offerings.  Friendly and sweet, Greenie absolutely loves attention!

Image

Kaila, born in 2007, is a Siberian Husky from Ottawa.  She has the sweetest disposition and loves attention.  She enjoys the company of other dogs and likes to have detailed discussions with you.  Over the past winter season, she has shown great potential to run in lead and has picked up on her gee-haw commands very quickly!  She is now a very reliable and trusty gee-haw lead dog!

Image

Kodiak was born in 2005, a Siberian Husky and quite the tease.  Staring you down to grab your attention and then bouncing away, he is playful and sweet.  He likes his face to be held in your hands, and will usually slip you a kiss right on the nose!  As a puppy originating from Quebec, he has now found a lasting home with us after being trained and loved by HuskyTown.

Sahara is an Alaskan Husky, born January 2006, and has suffered a terrible past.  Abused and unwanted as a puppy, this dog has journeyed across a long path of rehabilitation and socialization.  Her saving grace? Leading a team of dogs over rough terrain and through difficult obstacles.  Though she still requires special attention, guidance, and reassurance, she has rehabilitated very well and has made the most progress among any rescue we've ever had!

Image

Saphira was born in late 2006, a Siberian Husky who has been with us since 2008.  She has learned beside Greenie how to become a dedicated gee-haw lead.  She will befriend just about anybody, usually in the form of 'Husky Hugs' and many kisses.  She likes to be hugged back and doesn't mind sitting in your lap for that opportunity.

Image

Sashimi, born in 2008 and raised in our kennel, is a Siberian Husky and has the same smarts as her mother.  Trained by Greenie, both mother and daughter share a passion for leading.  With brains that get her into trouble, she spares no time in letting you know how smart she is.  Devious and talented, she is friendly, energetic, and extremely fast.

Image

Selene is a puppy from Braska born early 2010.  She is smart and playful.  She is more level-headed than Athena, but will make an excellent lead dog when her training starts this fall!  She will run a combination of point and lead this winter until she has learned her commands and has settled down from her puppy stage.

Image

Snif was born in 2005 and is part (and trained most) of our Quebec team.  She is level-headed, intelligent, and sweet.  She has a very friendly disposition and will assist us this year in training up our puppies for lead!

Wine was born in 2007, an Alaskan Husky.  He is fast, learns quickly, and enjoys his job.  Quiet in nature, he enjoys the company of other dogs and has a few human particulars.  His primary objective is to run to his heart's content.

Team Dogs (Point/Team/Wheel)

Image

Braska is a Siberian Husky and runs in team, born 2007. She is hyper, smart, and strong. From a stand-still, Braska will jump an easy 6 ft in the air and land with the grace of a dancer. Friendly and kind, Braska enjoys to give many kisses, and a lot of hugs. Trained to jump into your arms on command, she is definitely a charmer.  She will be trying out her wits this year in lead.

Casey is brother to Sashimi, but all the more different.  Somewhat stubborn and hard-headed, his efforts are best suited for wheel position.  He is incredibly strong and is capable of pulling heavy loads for extended periods of time.  Despite his handsome looks that some say make him look devilish, he is one of the friendliest and most caring dogs I've even known.

Image

Eos is sister to Athena and Selene, again born early 2010.  She is quiet.  She responds well to commands and training.  She is also very sweet, she has no mean bone in her body and will make an excellent wheel dog as she is quite powerful.  She, along with her other four litter mates in the kennel will be starting their training this fall!

Image

Kika, born 2006, is a Siberian/Alaskan Husky cross.  She runs in wheel and has power behind her long legs.  She is strong but sweet tempered, and loves to stand on your shoulders.  With an excellent personality and a friendly disposition, she is one dog you won't forget.

Image

Kratos was the only male in Braska's litter of seven!  Some how, we get the impression that being raised by his mother, his six sisters, and myself has softened him some what.  While he looks very manly, has a square frame, and will likely grow to be the same size as Casey (or very close to), and will undoubtedly be a very strong dog; he is a total baby!  He loves to be handled, he cries for your attention, and is always wearing a smile.  He will be best suited for wheel position, and may even be running with Casey this year!

Luna shares a birthday with Mars, separated by 5 years; being born on August 28th, 2010.  Luna is hesitant to new people; but once she's met you, she'll melt your heart.  She's really friendly and energetic; but has little to no dominant behaviour.  Being the baby of the kennel, she's just finally happy to be included in the teams!

Image

Mars is a Husky/Malamute cross.  He was born August 28th, 2005 and raised in our kennel and has always been a sweetheart.  He works hard in wheel, putting forth his greatest effort at every opportunity.  As if that wasn't enough, he is the biggest suck in the kennel, rolling onto his back the second you look at him.  Whining and smiling, he is happy if you are happy.

Image

Mia was born June 7th, 2006 and is a Siberian Husky from the States.  She was purchased by a family and brought into Canada as a puppy, only to find they were allergic to her!  She came to us at 9 months old, and has fit in excellently.  She is strong and willed, rarely dropping her standards when she has set her sights on a goal.  Mia aims to please and happily runs in wheel on our teams.

Image

Nuko is a Siberian Husky from Quebec and runs in team position.  He was born in 2008, and his brute strength and excellent teamplay makes him a valuable addition to our teams.  Descending from bloodlines in the touring industry, he has known nothing but touring.  Running since he was 10 months old, he has been taking people on sled rides ever since, and loves every minute of it!

Image

Nyx is the darkest coloured puppy of Braska's 2010 litter.  She took on the most black of all the puppies, and while her fur may be coloured like her mother, she is nothing like her.  She is more like her father.  Quiet, easy-going, and friendly.  She has a calm mannerism, which is likely what makes it so easy for her to retain her training.  We are not quite sure yet where she will be running this year.  Dogs with personalities such as hers can often hold several places in a team successfully due to their versatility.

Image

Valley is Siberian/Alaskan Husky cross.  She was born on Valentine's Day in 2006 as an only-puppy.  This didn't stop her from becoming one of the strongest dogs in the kennel, putting her strength to good use in wheel.  Her bloodlines date back to the days of trapping, when dog teams were used to pull trapped game out of the rugged bush to the warmth of a small cabin.  Her extra long legs are proof of that, and she'll pull us through just about any trail, groomed or not.
